The best advice for a trip to Italy

by Oliver Bullen
Travelling to a foreign country, with a language different to your own, is often seen as a daunting task due to the amount of knowledge required before even going there. Fortunately for you, this article has you covered!
Hello/Goodbye = Ciao
Good morning = Buongiorno
Please = Per favore
Thank you = Grazie
Excuse me = mi scusi
I would like... = Vorrei...
Bathroom = Bagno
Suitcase = Valigia

Before you even arrive in Italy, I would highly advise planning out destinations and times for most days. The most popular destinations, such as the Leaning Tower of Pisa, are almost guaranteed to be chock full of people, so it is usually best to go later in the day, or potentially midday on a weekday.
Some of the best places to visit in Italy include Venice and Rome, 2 of the most famous cities in the world, known for their beauty and historical significance respectively. If you're more interested in mountains and hiking, the best place to visit would be The Dolomites. They may not be the tallest mountains in the world but few can match the romance of the pink-hued granite Dolomites in Italy.
Making sure to save your money is important, especially in a country that isn't your home one, as you can't always guarantee a safe way back home, or wherever you are staying. Always make sure you have enough for transport. Buying your own food and cooking/preparing it saves a lot more money than if you were to eat out each day (though don't be afraid to go out and buy some authentic Italian pizza every now and then, you are on holiday after all!).
But most importantly, make sure to save enough for souvenirs!
